Pitch black night
unilluminated
except one shaft
that hit the stones
that I tread upon
from the otherwise
moonless and starless sky
a window above
shadowy figures behind curtains
back and forth
and a curdling scream
like milk gone sour
nightmares are made
heinous crime in silence black
no one stirs
gets involved
certainly not I
I stand and watch and wait
what iniquitous deed took place
what tragedy
for screams to echo
what unlawful felony
scream in the dead of this night
to not awaken the hero in me
silence falls the curtains
motionless
the figure now alien from
the prey
no hero am I
walk silently by

Great poem…
Thank you 🙂 a little different I guess
I agree, great poem.
Thank you also Lyn 🙂
This feels like something of a departure from the norm, I like it – worth looking further down this line Mrs Rambly 🙂
Goodness I didn’t expect this reaction! – so I should focus on the macabre more?
Thank you too Mr. P 🙂
Hmmm…this one’s a little on the darker side. I like it. It makes me a little sad, but only because I think you’ve hit upon a truth.
Thank you for liking it – yes a little deeper than what I normally go. Hopefully I wouldn’t walk on by, I appreciated your thought 🙂
There seems to be several stories out there these days that hit on this theme … but there are some that challenge the idea of passivness …
Tis a good bit of writing Mumsy
I thank you darling – yes too many avert their eyes – mainly for the fear of being hurt themselves. 😦
love it actually……
Why thank you BGP and lovely to see you 🙂
