One foot in front of the other
Our journey unknown as we tread
like reading a novel, no sense of
beginning or middle or end, so we step
cautiously on this path that lays ahead
~~~~~~~~~~~
memories of yellowed pages in a book once read
our lives were once like that but now we voice
farewell to what was frayed and erstwhile
to corners that curled and smelt of damp
beginning a new chapter we rejoice
~~~~~~~~~~
goose pumps explode upon paled skin
unknowing what is down this path
or what our lives will bring
Excitement, gut in knots, flushed cheeks
accepting, learning, discovering
~~~~~~~~~~
our own story we now embark upon
treading with inspired steps
the discarded pages of books all worn
replaced with crisp untouched experience
~~~~~~~~~~~
one foot in front of the other
with eagerness to discover
we say goodbye to previous loves
and turn the new pages together
New things make us nervous and excited in one breath!
Love your poetry Mumsy! xxxxx
Thanks Paulama appreciated as usual 🙂 xxx
I see your mood has become reflective. I (and a number of turkeys) are relieved! A lovely though R-Mum 🙂
Pssst and Clarence has liked so many of late…such a dear he is……. 😉
A sweet, giving, greasy faced, smarmy little love!
It has somewhat, shoosh about the turkeys you 😉 and I thank you ROS that means a lot coming from such an accomplished writer as yourself 🙂 My vocab lacks sadly 😦 even with the years I have been writing .. but then I feel sometimes ‘big’ words aren’t necessary to portray what you are trying to say.
oh are you going to the mall to Christmas shop? 😉
I loved it. 🙂
The Mall? Oh the Shopping Centre 😉
Hmm just been 🙂 Resigned from my job this morning – blog heaven for a while 🙂
