This prompt is from mythoughtsonthesubjectareasfollows. From the Trifecta challenge.

I am following the below.

b : the surface opening of an underground cavity

Step quietly as not to disturb the earth
keep voices hushed or they shall hear
don’t be frightened for they will sense
and keep us as their slaves

step quietly for they are real
tales of them I have been told with
beastly bodies hideous
that come out at night to scare

they will find us, they will
emerge gigantic in proportion
from the mouth of their underground
home; they will take us away

trolls with lumpy body bits
trolls with one large eye and
grotesque noses, tails hidden
I’m frightened so step lightly

keep your distance from the
opening; we should run and not
be here, the night in blackness
the trolls awake they are thieves

step lightly or run

  1. Terrific! Reminds me of “Pan’s Labyrinth” although I’m not sure why as there are no trolls in that movie. But still…something.

  2. Eeeps!I don’t like trolls-am not going anywhere near the underground mouth & will definitely step lightly-thanks for the warning:-)Or maybe I will call on Sir Gilroy, the troll slayer,to my rescue;-)
