Oh look it’s another chat post

Again it's babble time, seem to be doing more of these, but lets face it, it gives you a break from the poetry doesn't it. Today Saturday morning, I drove to the hairdressers to cover my sparkly bits - (yes unfortunately I have a few) and needed a trim and some foils (okay men foils are just that - colour put on our hair then wrapped in aluminium foil, yes we do look  Alien, but that's how we roll.

I walked in, the little bell rang above the door and I sat down, grabbed a mag with pictures of the overly skinny models and celebs that are showing off their bones lately.

My hairdresser Fiona, looked at me. "Hi Jen". "Hi Fe". She then walked to the counter, checked her appointment book and said "Erm Jen you're not booked in today". I grabbed my card out and said "It's got the 31st on here"? (insert puzzled look). She (insert a puzzled look back) said "Jen today is the 1st".

It's akin to a wave coming into the shore line, they just keep coming looking very similar to the last one, that's how my days are being at home every day now. Yes... I have a date on my MAC that stares at me daily, but do I pay attention - obviously not. Did I pick up a newspaper this morning - again obviously not.

She said if you want to hang around, she would still do my hair. My appointment was for 9.30. I got there at 9.15. I left at 1.30. Before getting my hair done, I made myself useful and swept the floors for her and made cups of tea and coffee for the other ladies.

Then it was back home with two of our dear friends helping us out with our new floating floor boards we are we have finally put down. I shall post a before and after tomorrow, if I can (especially for Bec) 🙂

The house (hallway, kitchen, eating area and family room) look so different and I am thrilled with the results. 8 hours today, cutting dowel, staining it, gluing it, nailing it…but it's done (sigh of relief). The only incident was after we had eaten our Chinese Take Away delivered for tea, Mr. S walked into the family room and said "Erm guys, looks like we have hidden a vent". So yes the 'boys' put the floor boards over one of the heating vents in the floor…. now we have to try and figure out where it was, to cut the opening again. You can see my face right now, can't you?

42C tomorrow here in sunny Australia, Mr. S is off to play golf and I visit the hardware store to get nick nacks to finish off the woodwork, stay warm people.

  1. I have never read on of your chatty posts Jen but I love it! Really great to get an insight into your life and going to the hairdressers on the wrong day… let me tell you a secret. I am enrolled on a night course and last week I completely forgot to go. Yes, completely. No excuse, nothing, just totally forgot all about it! Oh dear… Glad you still managed to get your hair done and looking forward to seeing the piccies! 🙂

    • Really how very dare you lol – I do them at least erm..I do them often. Gives my readers a little bit of me and not just my poetry – oh dear that rhymed. You forgot? How embarrassing it is isn’t it? It’s a sign you know.. we are losing it. 😦 Yes hair done and hope I can the pics onto the computer. Thanks for reading! 🙂 x

  2. I love hard wood floors, the floating floors are the best.

I love that you swept up the floor at the hairdressers and served tea. We went to a restaurant once and they were so busy, short staffed, and we cleared tables. It felt nice.

We are having a “heat wave” of 32 right at the moment which is 0c. 🙂

  3. Sheesh, I hate when I get my days mixed up. I’m always sure the other person is wrong until I finally realize I am. But you are nice. You sweep and make tea.
Funny about the vent. How does that happen? 🙂

  4. I used to never forget things and now I find myself doing this too. It’s so frustrating. I think I was better remembering things when I had more balls in the air. Now that my lifestyle is not as intense, my brain tends to relax a little too much some days.:)

    • I shall post tonight, though I didn’t take a before of all the tiles, only the bare chipboard underneath 😦 but I have one from the family room… You will be excited I just know it 😉 you are right about the memory thing, the more we have on, the less we seem to forget! Xxx

  5. A productive couple of days if you ask me. I have never heard that expression “sparkly bits”. May just have to use it myself. The hole beauty world is fraught with jargon. I had no clue what foils were until my head was covered on them 🙂

    • You made me laugh, sparkly bits is a good word to use 😉 yes productive 2 full weekends, almost done, staining the stairs today, 3 of them, having to touch up skirting boards with paint and no more gaps etc and DONE! Have the Evap cooling on hun, just starting to heat up now 1:45pm. You stay cool too lovely xxx

  6. oh no, on the hidden vent…uh, i take it you dont have a floorplan do you? that would be too easy…bet it looks nice…this summer i have this to look forward to as we will be installing floor….

    • No lol, his nibs will have to go under the house, find said vent, drill upwards, otherwise we will have holes everywhere…that ain’t gonna happen ~ smiles. Looks lovely, thank you will post pic tonight. How exciting what flooring are you doing and of course we need before and after shots please. Have a good one B.

  7. Oh, Jen….I’ve sooo been there. I once showed up to work at 6 am to have some very confused co-workers staring at me. I was actually off that day, but forgot. How does one forget a day off? And of all the shifts I’d think I had, 6am was what came to mind? LOL!

  8. I LOVE your chatty posts! I’m looking forward to the befores and afters. And btw, I have done the same thing – sure I had the time right but showed up a day or two late. When that happened the first time I was worried about dementia. Now I’m used to it. What does that say? 😉

  9. Missing the appointment by a day… ah! it happens. But you got you hair dressed(is it an appropriate way to say that you got your hair styled or… ahem…?) after all. I saw the photographs in the latest post and everything looks great. Hope you did find the location of the heating vent.
    🙂

    • Hair style, hair doo, dressed hair… I’m ok with all of them. Thanks anmol, happy with the floor, no he played golf today do no chance to crawl under the house 🙂 he will though!! Thank you so much for reading my chat 🙂

  10. Oops on the hair-timings. I can’t help thinking that your hair appointment should have been a reward for the floor-laying though, not the other way round. Hope you’ve uncovered your vent without too much trouble!

    • yes I think I agree with you 🙂 No Mr. S still has to venture under the house so that will be the weekend before he can locate drill etc – thankfully we don’t need it for a few months yet. 🙂
