past the table, folded napery
alongside the window, you sit
a Cafe, worn rustic floorboards
the solid against decorated lace
gazing deep in thought
I watch, glasses raised, across a room
full of bodies busy with their own
fantasies
romantic encounters
secret liasons
a salute to erotic novelty ahead
presents itself, to my right
I can only smile
not knowing thoughts
of young lovers, legs draped
hidden under linen
you smile in my direction
a natural arrangement
of your features
the room quiet
for split seconds in time
as eyes meet
are you waiting for someone
glancing at me, the polite smile
traded between strangers
whose eyes met
at the same time
you, extravagantly handsome
I sit, as if on the edge of a desert
craving salt from your lips

This was well done Jenny, especially the ending. >KB
Thank you very much KB.
I love little rendezvous places where you get to guess at people’s reasons for being there. Usually I’m just meeting my bff! I’ve found myself scribbling thoughts on the others there as imagination works overtime!
Love the ending. Everyone speculating about everyone else in these places. Even ourselves. 🙂 x
Aww you read it ~ thanks honey-buns. 🙂 How much fun is it people watching, perhaps that what I need to do, lob into a Cafe have a latte and scribble notes on everyone 🙂 xx
Jen this last passage is devastatingly perfect!
I sit, as if on the edge of a desert
craving salt from your lips
Oh my! Thank you so much, I blush…truly. Thank you my friend and for reading. Hugs.
lovely Jenny, I do like the concluding sentence, a very definite longing created.
Looking at comments perhaps I should have just written the last two? Thank you Michael.
You’ve got such a naughty streak in you Jen. 🙂
Now and then Trace, now and then 🙂
Those last couple of lines end the poem fantastically well.
Thank you so much my friend.
Welcome J
i too, wonder at times, what other’s stories are. and all the while having my own. great piece, jen )
There have to be many, studying body language tells only a part, thank you sweety 🙂 x
How fun! To be in a place and imagine the stories and goings ons. And then to have a little twist. All of the lines were needed to get us to those last lines. WELL DONE indeed Jen. 🙂
and I wasn’t even there, just at home 🙂 thank you so much Colleen! Xx
Lovely and potent imagination! I LOVE IT!!!!
Aww thank you once again 🙂 x
i could def see this play out…the glances and wonderings at them.
those last couple lines are hot…ha.
I forget to mention your nudges!! How remiss of me sorry my friend. Everyone seemed to like those last lines…perhaps I should do hot more often ~ smiles and thank you again.

Yes ocean blue I believe..Paul Newman type.. 😉 xxx
I really liked this, Jen. People watching is one of my favorite things to do when I have down time. That and daydream.
I’m doing a fair amount of daydreaming right now, people watching is cool. Men don’t seem to understand the fun of it for some reason though, us women are just stalkers it seems 😉 thanks sweety xxx
Love those last two lines and the slow build of tension in this.
thank you kindly 🙂 yes the last lines seems to have been winners! 😉
