Falling hard

The present cast aside so easily
lovers that walked hand in hand
travel along different paths
kisses that were magical
taste chemical

She wants them to ache
in the joints of their fingers
the small of their back
the flow of destiny interrupted
by feelings which escaped through
the landscape of boredom

Secrets and promises once shared
like fruit flavoured candies
abandoned in waste paper baskets
beside the passion once felt

Her forehead bruised against the carpet
feeling she will fall through
without being held
without feeling safe
without love

  1. Marvellous, Jen. Takes us from one end of the spectrum to the other. Falling hard or falling without it. Love’s dilemma. I hope you and yours are all doing better.xxx

  2. This captured me and held me. I felt you expressed love’s ambiguity and bittersweet quality so well, Jen! I raise my glass to toast you, wish you could join me! (someday… if not in person, in our dreams as friends we will share moments.)
