Tweety not so Sweety

2013-03-26 14.02.06

This is what happened on Thursday…or was it Wednesday? Being at home now, one day just rolls into another.

I am sounding like my elderly parents bless em so I shall move on.

What you see here my dear readers is a bird perched up on a window on our kitchen cathedral ceiling. I don’t know why they are called cathedral ceilings perhaps because it’s the height of a cathedral or near enough…this window to give you an idea is about 17 feet up the wall.

The other day I left the house for a short while, as I was minding two dogs (both bird lovers by the way) I left the door open to the decking, so they could come and go as they pleased. Yes I’m considerate when it comes to dogs.

When I returned there was said Mr/Mrs Fluffy wings perched up high with several trails of droppings cascading down the wall (look closely at the pic).

The kitchen table sits underneath (of course it does, it’s not hanging off the fall ffs).  I grabbed a chair and stood that on top of the table and then stood on the chair…I was trying to get high (not that sort of high folks settle) trusty broom in hand (no I wasn’t going to hurt Tweety-Pie). I started hoopin and a hollerin and waving the broom around like a woman possessed.

Tweety fluttered from one window pane to the next…pooping as he/she went. Nothing worked, no amount of screaming and yes I even started crying I was so mad. I got down and grabbed an almost finished plastic bag of bread and tied a knot in it and started throwing it at Tweety (please don’t call the RSPCA) I wasn’t trying to knock it off it’s perch (no I was) but without harming it. I am an animal lover, but the poop was getting to me.,

Finally after much screaming and tears and waving of arms she/he flew to the ground and sat like a stunned mullet (yes I know that is a fish).
Then ‘it’ flew onto a clothes horse (full of clean towels). I was shoo -shoo shoo-ing it with all my might, before it calmly hopped behind the TV cabinet. Grrrrrr.
Then ‘it’ flew gently into the window, then on the floor, then back onto another window, before me wielding broom screaming “SHOO you bloody bird”, it flew out the door and settled under the outdoor table.

‘It’ (as I’m not into sexing birds)  sat for over an hour (in shock I am gathering) or perhaps thinking  “This woman is a bloody lunatic, last time I hop in her place for a drink from the dog bowl”!  Where were the dogs you ask? Playing merrily in the background not giving a toss about my predicament.

The moral of this story? Yes folks there is one. Tweety must have gone through an ordeal, shocked at what was happening, why she couldn’t stay in her comfy place on the window ledge.

Wings flapping and not knowing where to go she fluttered from one spot to the next , even hitting herself in the process.

Only to find her way and rest for a while before she used her wings and found her freedom once again.

I will let you the reader figure that one out.

Summer – My Season

My body lies upon the sand and the warmth radiates and envelopes my every pore

I inwardly smile at how I feel, my senses are tingling and alive as I listen to the sounds of the waves tumbling

I have waited all year to feel this way

To be by the ocean to hear its sounds, to smell it

Summer

My hands dig into the soft and gritty like crystals and slowly I let each grain pass through my fingers

My eyes closed my breath draws in to absorb the perfume of the water, the smell of the warmest season

My eyes blink open and I stare to the sky above to watch the clouds dance in the wind that carries them

I watch as birds fly overhead and cry out making themselves known

Summer

So perfect the day the quietness, the stillness around me with only the waves and the sounds of feathered creatures

My mind escapes into the paradise, my thoughts tumble, like the waves they ebb and flow

How perfect, how serene at happiness complete

The seasons that make a difference to my feelings my emotions

Summer

I have waited for the warmth to feel the sand, to hear the ocean, to gaze into the water

I have passed through the cold and wintry months, the time of Spring and Autumn, with summer I am alive

This is my place, this is where I belong

I am content at peace

Summer

Why does this have such a hold on me?

Why am I happiest here?

I cannot say, is it because I am a water sign?

Possibly

Summer

Some places make us feel alive more than others

Being near the water is mine

I have tranquility listening to the waves or stepping amongst the rock pools to watch the life below

I simply belong

Summer

Do you have a place where you belong?

Where your senses come alive

Where the sounds of all around you without an orchestra

Fulfils you and takes you to a place you may only have in your dreams…

Summer

A little piece of Australia – Let’s get to know each other

1950’s…not that I remember it

Host to the Olympic Games in 1956, Melbourne was transformed in the years that followed. Buildings grew taller, traffic got thicker, and new arrivals brought new ideas. Many old buildings, with their stone gargoyles and cast-iron lacework, tumbled under the wrecker’s ball. The central city rang with the din of jackhammers. Glass and steel skyscrapers reached into the air — symbols of enterprise.

Immigrants from continental Europe brought their distinctive cultures to the city. New flavours were added to the arts. European-style cafes gave the city pockets of sophistication. But Melbourne was still a ‘9 to 5’ city. Hordes of cars from the suburbs jammed city streets in rush hours. As soon as offices emptied, streets were deserted.

Readers I am sorry – Technical difficulties have meant the photos I keep putting on this post..disappear.

Hopefully this gliche will be rectified soon.

Is there such a thing as too many blogs?

For it seems I cannot help myself and probably should slooooow down, but there is so much rattling around this brain of mine it’s hard to do that.

For instance I just stood outside, yes we now have Spring in Australia (though today you would have hardly thought it). The blossom trees are flowering, the fressias have emerged from the cold dark soil with their brilliant colours. The lemon tree is prolific with fruit and of course the birds now start tweeting and making themselves known at 5am (bless them…)

So why when all this beautiful nature is surrounding me that the day is cold and it even hailed this afternoon? However I do live in Melbourne (acclaimed for having 4 seasons in one day) and now even when it still is very fresh outside the sun decides to appear. I just don’t understand. I wish to have the weather of Thailand, tropical, humid and even when it does rain you can splash amongst the puddles or lift your face to the sky to be rained upon.

When Spring does commence in earnest, I shall be happy for the warmer days and shan’t complain. When our summer hits with its temperatures of up to 44 degrees (that’s Celcius not Farenheit which I think is around 107) then I shall probably complain that it’s too hot!

Ahh yes an age thing of always commenting on the weather…. well there you have it.

Perhaps I should have titled this Seasons.
