Time to say thank you on my 547th post

Who would have thought?

Certainly not I (well I fib I had a rough idea) but though I waited patiently in my lounge room at the front of the house for WordPress to arrive, they didn’t, insert 😦

They did not burst through my front door with bottles of Dom Perignon, smiley faces 🙂 and helium balloons fastened to a congratulatory card filled with all those signatures and cute remarks from all that work there  (hello by the way if you are reading – doing a fab job).

So I retreated from the lounge, head hung low,  walked passed the loo on the right, through my kitchen, stopping at the fridge for a slice of ham and drink, down three steps into the family room (rumpus), opened the sliding door, turned right, then right again to come into the study where I work type incessantly.

So pretty much a year (according to the stats page) July 2012 is when I began my blogolife, the first day 21 viewers “Hello Hello are you still watching”?  Don’t fret if you’re not. We all follow, un-follow, enjoy immensely one month and get tired of the month after. It’s a fact of life, I bear no grudges. (Insert humour here please)

Today as I haven’t thanked you all for some time, I thought it the perfect opportunity to do so.

Thank You to my 455  456 WP followers to my 84 FB followers (whoever you are) and not forgetting my 5 Twitter followers.  Thank You to the 23,370 people who have knocked on my front door….unlike WP (oh well as the saying goes beggars can’t be choosers).

Thank You for keeping me sane, driving me to write, to discover more about myself and to show me what I am capable of.

Thank You for being there when I wanted to rant and rave and gave me support, kindness, encouragement and your wisdom.

Thank You for reading my short stories, my poetry, my prose and yes my ramblings.

If you know me – I don’t write these Thank You posts for reasons of what we would call here to (suck-up) in order to have the like button pushed a gazillion times more.  I say Thank You because I firmly believe that if it wasn’t for the support and following of you all, there would be no need for me even having a blogolife. I say Thank You now as I have done since I started with WordPress and ….I shall continue for as long as I blog.

Thank You for giving me the opportunity to meet you, to come into your lives whether on here or by email, to get to know you and to develop some wonderful friendships.

I APPRECIATE EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO VISIT, HIT LIKE AND COMMENT.

and who knows it’s only 8:56pm Thursday night, maybe their plane has just been delayed.

What’s your New Years Resolution?

Happy 2013 (again) everyone.

So do you have one?

Will you make one and not keep it?

Do you think they are a waste of time?

Mine?

To improve my writing, to understand the intricacies of poetry.

To try to do some volunteer work this year.

To make sure that all my family are loved and cared for to the best of my ability, look after my ageing parents and simply try to be the best person that I can be.

I won’t give up my vices however, saying I will has never has worked in the past.

Share time 🙂

4000 visitors – Thank you one and all

I was perusing (as one does) around my site and fixing up a few things (mainly getting rid of those stupid little blue boxes with the ? in them) which means my photos and some awards have again disappeared of my posts.

I looked up and low and behold the number of visitors was

‘4000’!!!

Trumpets blaring, drums a thumping – now I realise to some fellow blog personel this may be a small and possibly insignificant number, but to moi who started at the end of July (hell has it been THAT long?) I feel it nothing short of a miracle that so many of you (virtual though you may be) have popped in.

We all want a little pat on the back now and then and though I started this as a release for my writing passion, I have also made friends along the way and I am grateful for that.

So I wish to say THANK YOU  for caring, sharing your comments and being so supportive of a woman who lives down under who just loves to write.

Off to get the bubbles!!!

Hip Hip Hooray!!

Humour for the Over-50’s….oh so true..

FYI – I am now using the multi file uploader( in place of the browser uploader) to download & upload from my computer and not download straight into Media Library as I was. I have redone my posts again with the photos this way…Everyone pray that they keep this time…plaaaaease!    Oh and if anyone thinks I’m still doing it wrong please let me know as it’s driving me to despair!

Should I Really Join Facebook? (Priceless)

Read it all the way through! It’s a good laugh! AND really quite true!!

A good laugh for people in the over 50 group !!!

When I bought my Blackberry, I thought about the 30-year business I ran with 1800 employees, all without a cell phone that plays music, takes videos, pictures and communicates with Facebook and Twitter. I signed up under duress for Twitter and Facebook, so my seven kids, their spouses, 13 grand kids and 2 great grand kids could communicate with me in the modern way. I figured I could handle something as simple as Twitter with only 140 characters of space.

That was before one of my grandkids hooked me up for Tweeter, Tweetree, Twhirl, Twitterfon, Tweetie and Twittererific Tweetdeck, Twitpix and something that sends every message to my cell phone and every other program within the texting World.

My phone was beeping every three minutes with the details of everything except the bowel movements of the entire next generation. I am not ready to live like this. I keep my cell phone in the garage in my golf bag.

The kids bought me a GPS for my last birthday because they say I get lost every now and then going over to the grocery store or library. I keep that in a box under my tool bench with the Blue tooth [it’s red] phone I am supposed to use when I drive. I wore it once and was standing in line at Barnes and Noble talking to my wife and everyone in the nearest 50 yards was glaring at me. I had to take my hearing aid out to use it, and I got a little loud.

I mean the GPS looked pretty smart on my dash board, but the lady inside that gadget was the most annoying, rudest person I had run into in a long time. Every 10 minutes, she would sarcastically say, “Re-calc-u-lating.” You would think that she could be nicer. It was like she could barely tolerate me. She would let go with a deep sigh and then tell me to make a U-turn at the next light. Then if I made a right turn instead. Well, it was not a good relationship..
When I get really lost now, I call my wife and tell her the name of the cross streets and while she is starting to develop the same tone as Gypsy, the GPS lady, at least she loves me.

To be perfectly frank, I am still trying to learn how to use the cordless phones in our house. We have had them for 4 years, but I still haven’t figured out how I can lose three phones all at once and have to run around digging under chair cushions and checking bathrooms and the dirty laundry baskets when the phone rings.

The world is just getting too complex for me.

They even mess me up every time I go to the grocery store. You would think they could settle on something themselves but this sudden “Paper or Plastic?” every time I check out just knocks me for a loop. I bought some of those cloth reusable bags to avoid looking confused, but I never remember to take them with me.

Now I toss it back to them. When they ask me, “Paper or Plastic?” I just say, “Doesn’t matter to me. I am bi-sacksual.” Then it’s their turn to stare at me with a blank look.

I was recently asked if I tweet. I answered, No, but I do fart a lot.”

P.S. I know some of you are not over 50. I sent it to you to allow you to forward it to those who are.

Senior citizens don’t need anymore gadgets. The TV remote and the garage door remote are about all we can handle.

What can I say?

Whoever thought when I started this humble little blog site through WORDPRESS that I would have accumulated so many people reading my gibberish?? I for one certainly did not.

I have raved and ranted and dribbled for the last three and a bit months about not necessarily the most exciting or thought provoking topics on this planet since I started at the end of July and did not think that I would even have 1 follower, 1 like, or 1 comment,  but I have over that time, learnt that’s what a blog site is all about.

You can be but a singular voice amongst a casts of thousands.

So many sites about life, fears, phobias, photography, personal hardship, personal goals…such an array of works… everyone sharing their lives in the open for all to see.

Through this I have found an affinity with so many people.

If it wasn’t for your site I would never have met or known of people around this world and for that I express my gratitude.

So this Post/Blog is to say THANK YOU WORDPRESS for giving people like me a simple suburban woman living in Australia who lives a pretty much normal existence the power of speech… an outlet to be able to say what her thoughts are, publicise whatever is on her mind at any particular moment of the day or night.

I have met and made friends (though only in the ‘virtual world’)  because of this. People actually care and comment about what I have written ( at least I think they do) and through your site you have made it possible to read, absorb and learn from so many others that contribute to it.

Yes there are sites that have had thousands of visitors and thousands of followers…but I am content with whom have liked, commented and followed my little site of ramblings. I get to share my emotions, my photos, my thoughts with people around the world whom I shall probably never meet and to me that is PRICELESS. I treasure everyone who visits me, everyone who comments, everyone who follows. I did not start this site to have a thousand followers. This site is not about vanity. This site is being able to share with people in the hope that you may connect with them…not a numbers game.

Hopefully I can continue being able to reply to everyone’s comments as I feel that they are all special for taking the time out of their busy lives to follow me and comment on what I have written.

They have all made me laugh or shed a tear and be in awe of their writing skills.

There are SO many talented people in this world, and through your site you have made it possible to see them in an otherwise unknown realm.

I do not write this for adoration or to be recognised. I write this because I feel that you have allowed me to be who I am. You have never met me I am a number or a name logged into your site..nothing more nothing less..but you have opened doors. You have by way of having this site have allowed me to meet amazing people and read posts from people unknown to me…and because of that I feel I am part of their lives be it ever so small.

So I end saying Thank You WordPress for having the insight to allow people to write what they may, share what they will and in doing so meet new friends and enjoy others in this ‘virtual world of ours’.
