Grief before the end

Grief
Physically invisible
It doesn’t knock to be invited in
It’s felt, before the door has opened
The curtains bellow from the volume
Circling around

Gathering in strength
Some days your legs give way
An ebb and flow a dance of
Sorrow and of pain

It invades your personal autonomy
Stretching the silence into hidden tears
This before the need arises
Not knowing when the knock will be heard

So we bide the time
Wait and hope and see
Preparing ourselves to cope, to deal
The best way that we can
Until the real dance begins

Goodbye my friend for Rachel her young daughter & her friends on WP

travel-to-ireland7

as the soft winds blow across the shamrocks
as the salt spray vanishes ‘cross the Irish seas
~ a breath last drawn, somewhere in our world
the insidious hands of a cruel disease
grasping at your loveliness your beauty and your strength
and if I had a four leaf clover, I’d wish for your return

you prayed for its release, we prayed alongside with you
and if hands weren’t clasped, you were in our thoughts
to the Universe; for though I’d never met you
a door was opened to my heart, you let the soft Irish wind
touch my soul, with your words and smiles

a life sorely missed, by your family and by us all
one moment you were with us ~ the other you were gone
we miss the friendship that you gave, the happiness you shared
your ‘lists’ and ‘nods’ and humour ~ life will never be the same

our darling Katie ~ the Irish lass who we all loved
our hearts will remember you, as you watch from up above
I thank you for being you, the gentleness of a friend
I met through writing on W P and my tears keep falling
like the Irish mist ~ I will miss you constantly

R.I.P Katie – October 2013

This was ‘our’ Katie, the Irish lass with a smile in her words, who brought me and many others so much joy.
‘Katiekins’ ~ I miss you, I love you.  You are at peace now darling and I am sure you are watching over everyone *nods nods*.

Katie was one of our fellow writers on WordPress .  If you knew her and you would like to write something to her daughter Rachel please post on  http://irishkatie.wordpress.com/2013/09/28/this-isnt-goodbye/

What will they say when I’m gone

images

What shall be written
when I pass from this earth?
what words etched in stone
‘bove the place where I’ll rest?

Who shall write them
who shall decide?
the day when my time comes
the day that I die

Will I be remembered
for selfless love?
will I be known for
making you laugh?

Will I be missed
for the help that I gave?
will I be content
as I sleep in my grave?

Will family cry
and miss who I was?
will friends shed a
tear.. simply because?

Will rain fall and hit
the casket that lowers?
or will the sun shine
touch the wood and the flowers?

Tears weeped of sadness
the loss of a soul
pain in the hearts
just remember me well

I did all I could in the
life that I led
I was a woman, a wife
a mother and yet..

I wish tears of happiness
to flow down your cheeks
tears that I ‘did right’
did all that I could

My life will miss yours
I’ll remember your voice
the happiness shared
don’t grieve but rejoice

Set the butterfly free
watch it wing to the skies
yes I’ll truly miss you
but I’ve said my goodbyes

Some moments not proud of
many others that were
please smile as you lower me
this is what I’d prefer
