~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
summer heat crackles
reminiscent of parched leaves
crumbled by the sun
back of an old persons hands
whose years have toiled
towards the water
slowly I tread…I tread slowly
wet sand, beneath my feet
soft cool brushes ankles
white skin goose bumps
darker deeper
the veil of cobalt blue
slowly I tread…I tread slowly
into the watery grave
of those that laughed
and cried before me
the remnants of their
chalky bones crushed
with shells I walk upon
disguised in grains of sands
those who spoke of love
as did I, who shed a tear as I
who gazed upon the moon and
watched a shooting star
and danced on wooden floors
dressed in finery
gathered skirts and cotton breeches
slowly I tread…I tread slowly
that went to war
who smiled on wedding days
who mourned at tombstones
girls who bore infants, when they
were but infants themselves
watery grave of those no longer
gather round me
hands reach out and softly
stroke my skin, crying to be
remembered, souls that still exist
souls I shan’t forget
slowly I tread..
This was inspired from some words that Tracy at http://tracysite.wordpress.com  had written. I could not let these words go – so thank you Tracy for the inspiration. For the music I thank Miri – my poet mentor at Words From Here To There,  find her work at http://anotherwanderingsoul.wordpress.com.  She introduced me to the exotically sublime voice of Loreena McKennitt.
Drawn to you
I am drawn to you
like my bed when I am weary
from the day
I am drawn
like choc-o-late
I am drawn
like fresh brewed coffee
in the morning
I am drawn
like juicy strawberries
I am drawn
like cuddling a puppy
soft and fluffy coat
I am drawn
like walking in the forest
I am drawn
like red plumb cherries
juice running down my chin
I am drawn
like watching the ocean
I am drawn
like seeing a baby smile
and gaze with curiosity as I hold
I am drawn
like having a massage
drawn….
I am sure you have the picture
Decastich – Oceans Edge
Decastich is any whole poem or free verse of 10 lines.
My eyes weep not from sadness but from
the gentle warm breeze that floats this
night, shuffling bare feet in golden grains,
marking the sand with a slide of foot,
tasting the sea air as it rests on my lips,
watching the half-moon hide behind clouds,
reaching out to touch stars that light up
the darkness, gently embracing the glow of
midnight light that bathes the darkened seas,
inwardly smile at the beauty that surrounds me.
Lovers Lament
[youtube.com/watch?v=buHwwZCDkQk]
descending in blue waters
that will calm your inner soul
dance a water waltz with me
connecting hands in water flow
rise up take one more gulp of air
clasp our fingers tight
draw one singular breath with me
as we kiss the world goodnight
you do not have to fear my love
it shall happen very soon
water wrapped around our love
take your last glimpse of moon
quietly air deserts our lungs
don’t fight or struggle more
bubbles rise to surface
that cannot be restored
we will not suffer pain my love
everlasting sleep will happen soon
clasp your fingers into mine
take your last glimpse of moon
