Today never the same as yesterday

Photo by me At Mossman Gorge

The heat wave came and went
clothes were peeled like orange skins
rain today broke the crispness
soaked the roots of those that withered
a quieter frame of mind than yesterday
watched the water fall over gutters
standing on the deck of wood
looking at birds open beaks
in happiness and they too are quieter
taking in a new day that is
warm and soaked

The rain continues outside my
windows, hitting the asphalt darker grey
quiet moments of listening to what surrounds me
no music played, no TV watched just me alone
pensively contemplating this new day

Winter not so wonderland

Coats soon will be discarded
They’ll accompany the scarves
Alone they’ll wait until the
Day they’re desired again
Winds will blow dragging winter
Cold to other hemispheres
The sun waits gathering strength
To burst through clouds
Her temperatures bringing warmth
We long for strappy sandals
With sand touched toes
Bare shoulders, the sun against our backs
The days that never end
Balmy wine kissed nights
Lying on sheets counting stars
Through open windows
This time will soon to be ours again
To close the cupboard on winter
Knowing that its taken residence
Elsewhere in the world

Airs and Graces (Prose)

Wind_from_the_sea

whispering winds uncoloured
you make yourself at home
licking under cracked paint
of my window sill
curling the room, I watch

oh if I could call by name
what would I name thee
you who soar into darkness
of night and brighten dust
make curtains dance

filling expanses
with enthusiasm
un-navigated
yet you enter, enveloping me with softness
uninvited

once you have passed
where do you dwell
drawing back from whence you came
what becomes of you
no sense of touch, yet you caress

like a lovers smooth hands
gentle touch, you glide

Sometimes I wonder where ideas spring from, this was in my head the last couple of days. Had to write it, then found the picture.

My day for those who are bored

Last night I did not write  (I know how very dare I) but there was a reason, for yesterday early evening, I lifted the dog we are minding – a dashund that’s a tad heavy without bending at the knees please! The result… spasms in my mid back up to my shoulder blades.

Today was horse riding day with a girlfriend, so last night I was lying down & stretching to get said back right and bed by 9.

Woke up this morning and felt a slight twinge, but no pain, so it was onward & upward. Now in Australia we are in Summer, someone did NOT tell the weather gods that though.

We arrived at the ‘ranch’ and it started drizzling – decked ourselves out in helmets (extremely attractive) and drizabones (what are they you ask?)

These are them DBRCLH.BRN

oil skin ankle length coats, that are rainproof and warm! (Think Man from Snowy River) We looked a treat.

On we went, rained continuing but not too heavy, the path slushy and muddy and puddles, beneath their feet, well trained and accustomed to the track, single file, head to bum all the way. We had the occasional trot, which my back coped with and first stop a Winery — YAY! Now I use to ride quite a bit in my younger years, the last time was 2 years ago. Because I was trying to be careful of my back when I dismounted, I didn’t judge the distance to the ground right, and yep straight out of the cowboy movies, yours truly landed fair square on her coccyx! Looking up at the tree tops in embarrassment!

More ginger stretches before going into the winery to sample 11 different wines from the region (we are talking 2 teaspoons full per glass here people) but it was enough to dull the pain. Then the heavens opened heavier and we were given the option of staying in and have lunch there or move on to the next winery. What MORE wine! I’m in! Off we went, the occasional trot (when I was just wanting to break out into a gallop) but we were advised too slippery underfoot. 😦

More tasting, then back to the stables. 3 hours in total, 22 tastings in total, 1 sore bottom.
The sun did peek for 4 minutes – thankfully!!

Normally this little adventure for two people is $320.00 – this cost $100 (on special) but I would have so liked to gallop or at least get a canter in – so that and landing on my backside the 2 disappointments of the day. Home now to relax 🙂

and me being shoved out the way by my horse Dusty- helmet hair and all 🙂

Point Nepean – Melbourne

This is Point Nepean – where Mr. S and I went to 2 weeks ago here are other photos – ( not mine Images for Point Nepean.          This was one of my ‘ratty’ days however, you know the type you wake up you know the day won’t go well.  Firstly Mr. S suggested we go for a drive down there (yep all for it) then the time lapse between asking and actually getting out the door (resulted in a slightly grumpy Mr. S). Mr. S informed me that we would be doing some walking, some on beach some on tracks inland. Right flat shoes (relatively new) I donned, then out the door (finally). Then OMG I didn’t bring my notebook for writing (yes it goes everywhere) so quick? stop at the shops to get one. This is one of my photos (if it stays on the post that is)

Off we went (I may add it was quite a warm day..actually bordering on hot). After an almost 1.5hour drive, we arrived. For some reason (known only to myself) I hated my new phone that day.. don’t ask but it was a piece of shite and I got angry with this inanimate object. I yelled at it, I accidentally dropped it and scratched it (which didn’t help my demeanour). The walk inland was buzzing with flies and tan-bark and sand. My new shoes!!!  We managed to walk to the end a few kms and look at the old Naval gun sites (did I mention it was originally a Naval Base?) Hmm possibly not, so through sand, bark, flies and blisters and taking ‘happy’ snaps along the way…this was our day. Mr. S in defence said “Well I looked at your shoes and they were flat so I assumed ok for walking”.   No honey they are new…they aren’t broken in or able to track through bushland. Thankfully there was a shuttle bus at the end as my blisters would not let me walk all the way back to the car.

We shall return when I am properly attired!

Yesterday in Melbourne Australia

Google and 123rf.com

100.4F yesterday hot sun in Australia

Parches throat and toasts the fauna

Restless nights sleep

Throw off the doona

Crispens grass and crackles till dry

Sun in the sky blistering high

Dance bare footed across the sand

Lie on the towels to catch suntan

No cool air to dissipate heat

Hot gates to open, hot iron seats

Birds are silent in heat withdrawn

Heat makes you tired sleepy..yawn

Sun rays beam down washing gets dried

Towels all crunchy almost fried

Trees not moving no wind to stir

But this is the country I love ….AUSTRALIA

Summer – My Season

My body lies upon the sand and the warmth radiates and envelopes my every pore

I inwardly smile at how I feel, my senses are tingling and alive as I listen to the sounds of the waves tumbling

I have waited all year to feel this way

To be by the ocean to hear its sounds, to smell it

Summer

My hands dig into the soft and gritty like crystals and slowly I let each grain pass through my fingers

My eyes closed my breath draws in to absorb the perfume of the water, the smell of the warmest season

My eyes blink open and I stare to the sky above to watch the clouds dance in the wind that carries them

I watch as birds fly overhead and cry out making themselves known

Summer

So perfect the day the quietness, the stillness around me with only the waves and the sounds of feathered creatures

My mind escapes into the paradise, my thoughts tumble, like the waves they ebb and flow

How perfect, how serene at happiness complete

The seasons that make a difference to my feelings my emotions

Summer

I have waited for the warmth to feel the sand, to hear the ocean, to gaze into the water

I have passed through the cold and wintry months, the time of Spring and Autumn, with summer I am alive

This is my place, this is where I belong

I am content at peace

Summer

Why does this have such a hold on me?

Why am I happiest here?

I cannot say, is it because I am a water sign?

Possibly

Summer

Some places make us feel alive more than others

Being near the water is mine

I have tranquility listening to the waves or stepping amongst the rock pools to watch the life below

I simply belong

Summer

Do you have a place where you belong?

Where your senses come alive

Where the sounds of all around you without an orchestra

Fulfils you and takes you to a place you may only have in your dreams…

Summer

Written whilst listening to Phil Collins “Genesis”

Is there such a thing as too many blogs?

For it seems I cannot help myself and probably should slooooow down, but there is so much rattling around this brain of mine it’s hard to do that.

For instance I just stood outside, yes we now have Spring in Australia (though today you would have hardly thought it). The blossom trees are flowering, the fressias have emerged from the cold dark soil with their brilliant colours. The lemon tree is prolific with fruit and of course the birds now start tweeting and making themselves known at 5am (bless them…)

So why when all this beautiful nature is surrounding me that the day is cold and it even hailed this afternoon? However I do live in Melbourne (acclaimed for having 4 seasons in one day) and now even when it still is very fresh outside the sun decides to appear. I just don’t understand. I wish to have the weather of Thailand, tropical, humid and even when it does rain you can splash amongst the puddles or lift your face to the sky to be rained upon.

When Spring does commence in earnest, I shall be happy for the warmer days and shan’t complain. When our summer hits with its temperatures of up to 44 degrees (that’s Celcius not Farenheit which I think is around 107) then I shall probably complain that it’s too hot!

Ahh yes an age thing of always commenting on the weather…. well there you have it.

Perhaps I should have titled this Seasons.
