Trifecta: Week Sixty-Six
Here I am again with my submission from the brilliant Trifecta Team. The word is DOCTOR (noun).
a : material added (as to food) to produce a desired effect b : a blade (as of metal) for spreading a coating or scraping a surface
I am running with 3 (a). The response must be between 33 and 333 words.
What have you Done
She was reminded of her child-hood
her days in the park
playing on the merry-go-round
not a carousel with painted horses
that majestically rose and fell
when she pretended she was riding
a ‘real’ horse, but the iron circular
playground ‘swing’
she knew it by no other name
holding onto the iron, her feet running fast
beside it, trying to gain speed
so that she may then jump upon
to enjoy the ride
though sometimes giddiness happened
her head would feel light
she even thought she would be sick
this is what she felt like now
the scenery around her was blurry
her stomach did not feel well
she wanted it to stop
she wanted to get off
the merry-go-round memories
came flooding back
a hotel room the two of them
he handed her a cocktail
did he doctor it
and why?

It was totally evil….I bought into the childhood memory too!

I was with you on the merry go round memory and imagined myself on one as a child…then my heart fell when I realized the meaning of the last four lines. Nice twist at the end, but scary situation!
Thank you so much Jannat …. the challenge word had to get in there somehow! 🙂
Never was a fan of merry-go-round amusements, so the ending really got me. Nice job!
Kymmin I thank you, I hated the merry- go- round as it made me feel so sick 😦
I remember those things on the playground. So scary that something from childhood is what she connects to the awful thing happening in the present.
Yes memories can be precious or horrid, thanks for visiting Bee and commenting. 🙂
hat that feeling of the world spinning – why, indeed? More to come?
Hi Barbara – I thank you 🙂 You want me to continue this?
Very clever the way you used the merry go round methphor right until the end. The end was sort of a splash of cold water. Way to go!
LD thank you, I like your wording of a splash of cold water too – excellent. 🙂
HT – I am glad – thank you 🙂
What a ride that was-I almost fell off when it swung so suddenly,& leaping away, wickedly gleeful!
lol!Great spin that was-loved it:-)
Ah thank you kind lady. I hated those round-a-bouts, made me quite queasy just writing about it! 🙂
I know-I have only ridden it once as a child-never again-not for people like us I guess-I dislike anything that goes round & round or for that matter up & down, lol!
Me to 61 – you can have your whizzy dizzy rides ….. never did…never will 🙂 x
