How did you celebrate ? Chat time

Here I sit 11:00 pm on the first day of 2015.

I woke okay as did the girls (2 of my girlfriends) and Mr. S.

Our celebration began with watching some TV and the countdown to 12, watching the fireworks over and on Sydney Harbour Bridge. As we drew to the last minute, out came the sparklers, which we struggled to light in time! The sparklers though not having the same panache as the fireworks, at least didn’t scare the poor pets around us in neighbouring homes.

While I’m on this subject pet owners, if you haven’t learnt that you need to take measures to ensure your pets are safe and protected whilst fire crackers are raging around them, then please take note!

Whilst the four of us (yes the party was booming) waved our sparklers on the decking we counted down the last ten seconds.
Then it was kisses and hugs and messages of let’s hope for a better year.

Back inside, the coffee table spread with food and bottles of champagne and sparkling strawberry wine, we decided we wanted to sing. Our new TV is a smart TV, where we can watch youtubes and the Internet. So it was … Yes you guessed it KARAOKE TIME!

We all took turns in choosing songs to raise our voices too and there were some hilarious choices made, but there were also some emotional choices and not seeing my girls that night, got me teary.

We sang, we laughed, we ate, we sang some more, till our voices were croaky and our throats hoarse. Checking the time it was 4:30am.

I haven’t stayed up till that hour since I was a teenager.

This morning I got up and cooked bacon and eggs on the BBQ for everyone, as each bedroom door opened and 3 bodies with tired eyes sat down for their first breakfast of the year, there were smiles and “What a great night…morning”.

I hope you all had a wonderful celebration as did we.

    • You are welcome and thank you for reading and commenting! Glad you had a nice night, though the ‘little trouble’ doesn’t sound good 😞 wishing you and yours a very happy new year. 😊

  1. That sounds like a lovely evening! We celebrated at my oldest daughter’s beautiful home. She had a huge spread of steamed seafood and salads. We danced and played video games and toasted with sparkling grape juice at midnight. We went to bed around two and just got up a few minutes ago! Happy New Year!

  2. What a perfect end to the year my lovely. I was under the weather and I have a little sicky in the house, so we played board games, watching t.v. waiting for the ball to drop in New York. Had a martini, then read into the night and went to bed. A lot of family time for us. We wanted it and we got it. It’s back to the mayhem next week.
Happiest New Year to you and Mr S
    Love you

    • Thank you darling, sorry there were sickies, I hope things have improved? Family time with those you love is a splendid way to see in the New Year..so is having a martini 😉 mayhem always unfortunately lol. Thank you and to you and your family sweetheart.
      Love you

      • Why there has to be mayhem I don’t know but it is all a part of life I guess. Oooh Martinis were good.
Family time has been wonderful, sickies and all.
        love you too xxx

  3. How lovely! We played games with friends. Stuffed our bellies. Laughed until we hurt. Yelled at the cheating of the games. Popped noise makers and celebrated with joy and laughter and kisses at midnight! 🙂

  4. Can’t go wrong with a bit of Karaoke! I’m glad you had a great time. I was….asleep by half 11 *Hangs head in shame* What can I say? I just can’t party like I used to. Happy New Year! 😉

    • I don’t think so either, especially in the privacy of ones home, that way we only made idiots of ourselves in front of a select few! Half 11? Oh dear, it’s not that bad though, there have been a few NYE’s which I didn’t see for the same reason..lift your head up and hope you have a wonderful year! 😀

  5. Sounds like an awesome party to me! Any time spent with friends and/or family makes for cherished moments and memories! 4:30 am! You go girl! We only made it to 2:30 am, but had the same morning after with folks drifting down and bacon and eggs. Love it!

    • Thanks hun, small and select crowd (as everyone else was booked!) 2:30 sounds reasonable, in fact I kept glancing at the time, but just kept going. Glad you had a good time and the same breakfast! 😀

  6. Happy New Year, Jen. Ours was quite–as I like it. For me, the New Year is sort of introspective. We watched Football in the afternoon, and of course, the Rose Parade in Pasadena. My parents used to live on Orange Grove Blvd.–the street where the parade starts–so we got the chance to walk up to the floats and look at them closely. Yes, I’m a “little old lady from Pasadena.”

  7. big smiles, Jen, on your celebration. I know you’ve weathered a big storm this past year, and I wish you gooey pitch and strong lines to keep your boat afloat as you navigate the coming year. ~

  8. Lovely recounting of your celebration. We were expecting a new round of visitors the next day so we cleaned all day and then crashed early. No celebration this time. I will live on yours. Happy New Year Jen! 😀

  9. Happy New year! I had a quiet evening in, with the children and one of my best girlfriends. The children fell asleep early, the room with Halo (Our Guide Dog) was padded with lots of pillows and phenergan was ready… lol

As girls do, we chatted in the new year, almost missing the moment talking about something really important like my stalking of Michael Buble or the latest episode of Grand Designs…

Wishing you a wonderful year full of blessings and relief from some of the challenges you have seen in the year post.

    Miss Lou
    xx

    • That sounds like a nice relaxing New a Year celebration. You set the scene chatting to your girlfriend about the ‘important’ issues at hand 😊 thank you Lou I am hoping for a more relaxed year for everyone. 💚 x

  10. Happy New Year, Mumsy!!

That sounded like heaps of fun, wish I had been with you! I wish you nothing but a great happy peaceful year filled with abundance! Much love to you. Hugs Paula xxxxx
